The focus of this class is to train the student in the basic skills needed to paint in oils with particular attention to the use of color, light, shadow, composition, brush handling and materials. Students work from photographs from either the instructor or from their own collection. Every class, a weekly challenge will be demonstrated focusing on either subject matter, technique or other various painting elements. Learn the world of color and more importantly the why’s and how’s of color theory This guided, stress free hands on workshop is perfect for anyone looking to learn the basics and way beyond. Color harmony, value in color, temperature, and more will be covered and learned through involved exercises. Materials are all provided. We will be using acrylics but the lessons can be applied to all color media.

KIDS | TWEEN | TEEN CLASSES
This is the perfect class for students looking to create a strong portfolio for either a college or academic program. Each week students will create a work of art in a variety of media such as charcoal, pencil, watercolor, acrylic, and even sculpture. By the end of the semester students will have 7–10 pieces that they can use toward their portfolio, along with the knowledge of how to photograph and present their work in a cohesive way.
Build a foundation! Study composition, perspective, proportion, color theory, and values while creating still lifes, landscapes, portraiture, figure drawing, and more. Talk about art concepts with demonstrations and step-by-step lessons to gain an understanding of what makes strong drawings and paintings.
With an emphasis on artistic individuality, your teen will build a solid drawing and painting foundation through demonstrations and experimentations. Students will develop their own styles and, at the same time, learn fundamentals of drawing and painting by exploring color and shadow to create still lifes, portraits, and more.
